Job Description :

The School of Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS) at Penn State Behrend is seeking a full-time Academic Programs Assistant to support faculty, students, and staff.

The Academic Programs Assistant will be a detail oriented, self-motivated, and organized individual who will provide administrative and professional support to the faculty, staff, and students. Responsibilities include reviewing and generating academic schedules for HSS departments by creating and coordinating semester schedules and room assignments using specified scheduling software, collecting data, and interpreting data necessary for enrollment and faculty needs.

Additional duties include:

Processing academic forms for students; maintaining and filing documents to ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance with University policies

Assigning the faculty student rating of teaching effectiveness (SRTE) evaluations
Monitoring course enrollments, providing reports, and resolving under-enrolled courses
Reporting, tracking, and assigning student advisor assignments
Processing all departmental curricula creation and updates for undergraduate and graduate programs in HSS
Verifying and tracking student clearances for Education Programs
Providing administrative support for the graduate Applied Clinical Psychology program
Developing, maintaining, and updating various data analysis/reporting databases

The successful candidate will possess:

Capacity to handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously with attention to detail
Organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Exceptional collaboration, interpersonal and problem-solving skills
Capability to work independently as well as in a team environment

This position also requires excellent written and oral communication skills, the ability to handle interruptions with poise and patience, and comfort working within a fast-paced environment. Strong computer skills are necessary with proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications, and the ability to quickly learn specified scheduling software.

This position typically requires a High School diploma or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
