Nestled on the shores of Lake Lanier lies Lanier Island Resort – an island destination spread out across 1200 acres unlike any resort in Georgia. Our property features 282 guest rooms, indoor/outdoor meeting spaces, golf course, multiple dining options, nature trails, and other points of interest.

What you will have an opportunity to do:
We are looking for a highly motivated Banquet Captain to join our team! This individual will help to direct the set up and preparation of banquet rooms for banquet functions, serve and bus tables as well as clear and tear down banquet rooms at the end of the function. Assisting the Banquet Manager this individual will lead the performance of all hourly banquet food and beverage servers and houseman and is the personal representative of the property to banquet guests. They will coordinate all aspects of the room set-up and food and beverage service enhance guest satisfaction and maximize revenues.

Your role:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Maintaining and inspecting all function rooms and areas
Meet and review events with group contacts and passing along information to respective personnel
Administration and of banquet event orders
Completion of banquet billing and posting
Organizing banquet liquor room and supervise liquor stock on house boats
Purchase operational (small) supplies
Supervise the cleaning of the front areas and back service hallways
Conduct pre-function meetings with banquet staff
Assist Banquet Manager in the implementation of operational standards and training
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Daily duties for captains vary greatly depending on where they work and the nature of their job, such as whether they’re in charge of a vessel or a physical piece of property that provides services to customers. These tasks are commonly performed by most captains:
Train and Supervise Staff Captains train staff members on how to perform their daily work tasks and adhere to company standards. They also supervise and manage staff by delegating work, ensuring employees are adhering to policies, and monitoring employee performance to guarantee proper execution.
Captains address customer complaints and questions and find solutions to their problems.
Captains maintain company standards for cleanliness in all work and customer areas, and direct staff to clean up any disorganized or unsightly areas of the property.
Captains schedule and coordinate staff for special events and direct outside vendors on where to provide various event services.

What are we looking for?

Someone with 2-4 years of food service experience, preferably Banquet service
Someone with experience in a quality, high volume venue with synchronized service
Someone with knowledge of wine, beer, cocktails, and spirits
Someone who is able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Someone with a passion for creating an exceptional experience for all guests
Someone with excellent communication skills
