Job Description :
Position Objective: Purchases commodities for use in manufacturing and other business applications. Monitors and analyzes the commodities market and overall economic conditions to ensure that commodities are purchased at competitive prices. Participates in contract negotiations and ensures that orders include correct quantities and comply with quality standards.
General responsibilities

Adherence to federal and local law regulations, internal policies and other applicable rules including IOS/TS 16949, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 requirements.

Technical responsibilities

Executes local commodity strategies to meet or exceed requirements regarding cost, time, and quality (incl. SCM risks)
Drives RFx from start to decision
“One Face to the Supplier” – Responsible for communication to Suppliers regarding commercial topics – escalation level for other stakeholders (e.g. logistics, R&D)
Owns relationship to key suppliers and cooperates to develop them into strategic partners.
Sourcing and Tendering: Identifies and selects vendors to supply parts and products for defined Material Groups.
Market knowledge about products of the commodity.
Responsible to monitor performance of vendor services execution.
Responsible for planning and execution of price negotiations, incl. change management activities, commercial target setting and achievement
Scouting of innovations (technologies/ supplier), delivering market input to the internal strategic planning departments
Supplier Management and Development: Works closely with SQM to develop suppliers
Acts as internal Interface for R&D Projects
Can be nominated as Project Buyer for complex project where a coordination within Procurement (between the commodity buyers) is needed

· Establish and maintain appropriate purchasing policies and practices including approval levels, purchase order contractual language, and document handling. Maintain compliance with accepted accounting practices, and compliance with HVI business ethics and any government regulations.
· Must have strong interpersonal skills (relationship builder) that has the ability to influence, collaborate and support peers and suppliers. The ability to work independently and also be a team player. Maintain a positive teamwork atmosphere by actions, communication and helping co-workers.
· Demonstrate a solid business acumen in negotiating skills to ensure the best pricing, quality, and service for assigned commodities.
· Understand and rationalize when it is beneficial to make contractual commitments for a single year, multi-year or spot market contracts. Contract purchase volumes that align with annual Sales Demand, forecasted Production Plans and proposed raw material inventory levels.
· Maintain knowledge of domestic and international market conditions that may influence price changes of commodities. Where applicable, forecast and proactively communicate probable future pricing versus current bookings to internal customers in Supply Chain, Sales and Marketing, Accounting and upper management and how it impacts the organization.
· Where applicable and beneficial build/maintain strategic partnerships.
· Work in cooperation with QA to ensure materials comply with all requirements. Coordinate the disposition of defective or rejected materials.
· Establish a “total cost” procurement culture which includes purchase price, material quality, service and internal costs as key elements.
· Prepare, maintain and report out on budgetary (expense, PPV, etc) and KPI information for monthly review.
Job profile:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration / Economy / Supply Chain
· 2 – 3 years experience in progressive purchasing or supplier development engineer positions
· Polished, professional maturity with strong communication skills in both oral and written modes, and analytical skill
Technical knowledge:
· Must have comprehensive understanding of economics, both domestic and worldwide; world situations, and political issues
· SAP / ERP knowledge preferred
